The CROSS-OS project

CROSS-OS originates from a radical question: is it possible to rethink an operating system without execution?

In traditional paradigms, software acts upon the system through commands, procedures, and control flows. CROSS-OS reverses this logic: the system is not commanded, but solved.

Goal

The goal of CROSS-OS is not to immediately propose a technical implementation, but to construct a new conceptual space in which to rethink:

• the notion of process
• the concept of resource
• dependency management
• the relationship between system and intention

Conceptual structure

The core structure of CROSS-OS is inspired by crossword puzzles:

• Processes → Words
• Resources → Cells
• Dependencies → Crossings

A crossword is correct when all words intersect coherently. Likewise, a CROSS-OS system functions when all its components are simultaneously resolved into a consistent configuration.

Project status

CROSS-OS is currently an evolving theoretical research project, focused on conceptual modeling, interpretive frameworks, and application scenarios.
